Information About The Farm & Puppies
Our Puppy Care
Our moms always get premium dog food such as Eukanuba and other quality foods and NuVet vitamins throughout their
pregnancy and during lactation.
We keep a schedule/chart, recording every little thing that is done beginning at birth.
Dewormings are done at 2, 4, 6, & 8 weeks old. We use strongid-t, then Panacur (this schedule may vary). Our shots begin between 4-6 weeks of age. We use Dr. Page's groundbreaking Neo-Par vaccine between 4 and 6 weeks. Bordetella is given to the mom at 7th week of gestation and to her babies at 4 and 8 weeks of age. A 5-1 vaccine is given during the health check.
Our vets, Dr. Cox and Dr. Gaston of Citra Animal Clinic, do all vet checks (Health Cert. as mentioned above).

In the state of Florida, it is required by law that all dogs sold in the state have a Florida Agriculture Health Certificate filled out by a Florida licensed vet. Also, no pup can leave its mother before 8 weeks of age.

Our Rat Terriers are Primary Lens Luxation (PLL) tested and have been found to be clear by Gen-sol Labs, which is accepted by OFA. We do NOT knowingly breed dogs that are carriers of PLL. Ask us for more information on this.
We continue to provide the best possible care to our puppies until they leave to go to their new homes. Please feel free to ask any questions you like about our care and animal husbandry philosophy.

We specialize in the short-legged "type B," Rat Terrier, also known as Teddy Roosevelt Rat Terriers or the Teddy Roosevelt Terrier. They make for excellent family dogs with great temperaments.
Your Puppy's Arrival & Shipping
We do not ship by air unattended. What this means is that we fly with your puppy. We also ground ship. One of the Simonton Farms' family members will personally drive the puppy to you. We prefer you come directly to our home so we meet each other. However, it is understandable that some
people cannot come here personally so this is why we offer a face-to-face shipping program. Shipping fees vary with hours spent, distance, and hotels. Pups who stay for extended periods of time may be charged a boarding fee.
